Leading Nollywood director, producer and screenwriter, Chico Ejiro is dead

DAYLIGHTNG reliably and painfully gathered that the multiple award winning filmmaker famously known as Mr. Prolific, died in the early hours of Christmas Day, December, 25, from an undisclosed illness.

Painfully, the sudden death of the revered filmmaker from Isoko, Delta State, has thrown Nollywood into mourning, on a day meant for celebration globally.

Renowned filmmaker  and elder brother of the deceased, Mr. Zeb Ejiro, in an emotion-laden voice, confirmed the sad news to DAYLIGHTNG.

“My brother, yes, it is true, Chico is dead. He is gone. My brother is dead. Thank you for calling and sympathising with us,” he told us.

Also speaking, the former national president of the Association of Movie Producers and a very close pal of the deceased, Mr. Zik Zulu-Okafor, described Chico’s demise as a tragedy.

“We have lost Chico to the cold and wicked hands of death. This is tragic and very sad.

Myself, Chico and Mike Nliam jointly produced by first movie in Nollywood, titled Nightmare.

Chico was one of my closest friends in Nollywood. This is so sad and painful. The loss is irreplaceable and may his soul rest in peace”, Okafor told DAYLIGHTNG in a voice filled with sorrow.

Another good friend of the deceased and a prominent member of Nollywood, Mr. Mike Nliam, in a brief chat with DAYLIGHTNG, said he received the sad news with sadness and tears.

“Azuh my brother, since the sad news hit me like a thunderbolt, I have not been myself. Chico Ejiro my good friend is dead, just like that. May God grant his soul eternal rest and also comfort the family he left behind”, he said in a quaky voice.

Meanwhile, as the entire Nollywood continues to mourn this painful loss, DAYLIGHTNG.COM, will definitely keep readers abreast as events unfurl.

Chico Ejiro, the director of the monster hit Silent Night, has over 100 films to his credit as a top-notch filmmaker in Nollywood.
